Because sometime you just have to laugh through the pain. And if you can't do that, laugh over here. You can't lose, really.

WEEK 6, DAY 6.

Tomorrow it will have been seven weeks, which means I'm over halfway to being allowed to run (12 weeks). However, last week it didn't seem like I'd get there at all.

I don't know if I was overexerting myself on the PT or what, but my hamstring was KILLING me. Plus, it was bruising. But since I don't spend a lot of time looking at the back of my thighs, I didn't know (and still don't) if the bruising happened at the same time as the increased pain, or if it had been there for weeks.

I even called the doctor about it, worried that maybe I'd hurt myself again and delayed my recovery. The nurse asked me several questions, then consulted Dr. Don about it. His response was that if it was still hurting the following week, they'd bring me in early (my next appointment with him isn't for another two weeks). In the meantime, they told me to lay off the hamstring curls until the pain went away.

That was all last week. This week, the hamstring is still a little tender, but I can do the curls again. I still don't know if what I went through last week was normal or not, but it doesn't seem to have done any lasting damage. And in any case, everything else is getting easier all the time. I've actually been walking up stairs for about five or six days now, and in another week or so I think I'll be able to walk down, too. I can almost do it now, but I'd rather not risk the new knee on stairs just yet.

I have PT again this Friday, so I think I'll ask about my flexion again. When I'm doing heel slides at home, it never seems like I'm getting any more flexible. It's good to have a number just so I know I'm making progress. I'll let you know what it is this weekend. Bye for now!

Did I mention in the last post that I had increased to 111 degrees of flexion at week 5? I didn't think so. Well, I've mentioned it now.
